Somerdale International Ltd. is a leading exporter of British cheese, delivering top-quality products from the very best British and Irish producers to over 50 countries. In early 2023, their social media was a bit all over the place — sporadic posts, no real cohesion — and they felt a step behind their competitors. That’s when they got in touch with me at Social Vixen.
When Somerdale came on board in March 2023, they wanted a dedicated social media manager to give their brand the attention it deserved. LinkedIn was a big focus, as they wanted to engage with industry professionals, but there was a worry: would there really be enough content to post three times a week consistently?
After a couple of chats to get clear on goals and expectations, I reassured them there was plenty to talk about. From product launches to trade events, we built a content calendar so the feed would never run dry. We kicked things off in late April 2023, and things quickly picked up.
What started as working with one contact soon turned into a proper team effort. Colleagues from the USA, Asia, and Australia began sending content weekly, and our monthly catch-ups became a key part of making sure everyone was on the same page.
Since then, my role has expanded to include broader marketing activities too - so I’m not just running the socials, I’m helping shape how the brand shows up online and offline, which is really exciting!
The results have been amazing. Somerdale’s LinkedIn following has jumped from the 300s to nearly 2,000, and engagement keeps climbing. Retailers, chefs, and partners regularly comment on how much they love the posts, which is always great to hear.
Major retailers have seen products featured on their pages, requested samples, and even placed orders. On top of that, cheeseboard makers, charcuterie creators, and chefs are regularly using Somerdale cheeses and tagging the brand - we share their content too, which helps reach even further.
From a sporadic social presence to a planned, consistent strategy, working with Somerdale has been hugely rewarding. It’s collaboration, creativity, and results all rolled into one - and it keeps getting better!
