Somerdale International Ltd. is a leading exporter of British cheese, delivering top-tier products to over 50 countries worldwide. In early 2023, they faced a challenge familiar to many: their social media presence had become sporadic and lacked cohesion, leaving them feeling behind competitors. That’s when they reached out to me at Social Vixen.
When Somerdale approached me in March 2023, they had been posting irregularly and felt they needed a dedicated social media manager to give their brand the attention it deserved. They wanted to raise their profile and strengthen their presence, particularly on LinkedIn, where they saw opportunities to engage with industry professionals. Their main concern was would there be enough content to post consistently three times a week?
After a couple of productive meetings to discuss their goals and expectations, I reassured them that, with the right strategy, there was more than enough to talk about. From product launches to events they were attending, I built a content calendar that ensured they’d never run out of engaging material. We kicked things off in late April 2023, and I’m happy to say that things quickly picked up momentum.
As we moved forward, what started as collaboration with one contact soon expanded. Teams from the USA, Asia, and Australia began reaching out weekly with new content, and our monthly catch-up meetings became a vital part of ensuring everyone was aligned on what we’d be posting next.
The results speak for themselves. Somerdale’s LinkedIn following has tripled since we began working together, and they’ve received messages from partners and retailers impressed by their fresh, engaging content. Not only has the quality of posts caught the attention of cheeseboard and charcuterie board makers, chefs, and retailers—opening up exciting opportunities for user-generated content (UGC)—but major retailers have also requested samples and placed orders after discovering Somerdale through social media. This is driving even more growth and engagement across the board.
